Tea and teapot

Postcard ID: TW-963565
Country: Taiwan

I love tea. Green tea. Moreover, I'm a fan of green tea. Here in Minsk I have a wonderful place where I buy tea. Every time I try to choose any one which I've not selected before. Now I have tea even with pieces of chocolate :) and the have nice names like "Magic of Witches" or "Kabuchcha" or anything else.
And their smell...))

Flower Fairies by Cicely Mary Barker

Postcard ID: EE-159973
Country: Estonia

This postcard is illustration made by Cicely Mary Barker.

Cicely Mary Barker (28 June 1895 – 16 February 1973) was an English illustrator best known for a series of fantasy illustrations depicting fairies and flowers. Barker’s art education began in girlhood with correspondence courses and instruction at the Croydon School of Art. Her earliest professional work included greeting cards and juvenile magazine illustrations, and her first book, Flower Fairies of the Spring, was published in 1923. Similar books were published in the following decades.

Barker was equally proficient in watercolour, pen and ink, oils, and pastels. Kate Greenaway and the Pre-Raphaelites were the principal influences on her work. She claimed to paint instinctively and rejected artistic theories. Barker died in 1973. Though she published Flower Fairy books with spring, summer, and autumn themes, it wasn’t until 1985 that a winter collection was assembled from her remaining work and published posthumously. Hello!

This is my first post in my new postcrossing blog.

My name is Lena. Mostly I live in Minsk, Belarus, but sometimes I go to Chisinau, Moldova.

In March of 2012 I’ve started postcrossing activity. Now I want to write some my thoughts about received postcards. Also it would be great chance to improve my english skills :)

As for format of this blog, mostly you will see here scans of postcards which I’ve received and some words about them. So, each post will contain picture + text.
I'll try to add at least one post a day.

Happy Postcrossing!
