Lovely Moomins

Here is absolutely amazing card. Each cell with Moomin character is a sticker! Also here are all my fauvorite characters in one place :)

A week ago I installed a game Moomin Valley to see all these guys each day :)

Also the card contains some beautiful stamps, but I indentified only one. There is no year signature on the stamp, I checked period from 2000 till 2015 and haven't found these 2 big stamps.

However the small one is from the series 'Beneficial Insects' issued in 2007:

When I was in St. Petersburg I lived near to Nevsky Prospect - wonderful and beautiful place.

Nevsky Prospect is the main street in the city of St. Petersburg, Russia. Planned by Peter the Great as beginning of the road to Novgorod and Moscow, the avenue runs from the Admiralty to the Moscow Railway Station and, after making a turn at Vosstaniya Square, to the Alexander Nevsky Lavra.

This card looks a bit strange for me. I like flowers, but in bouquet, or in vase, or in a field :)

I am not sure if I've tried Finnish chocolate, but the ones on the card looks delicious :) actually, Christmas and New Year time it's a period when you eat much chococolate and other sweets :) (although I received this card in September :)).

Flowers and butterflies

Some years ago one postcrossing card told me about Amish families. Before that time I had known nothing about them, even the name. So now, when I received this card I was prepared :)

Lavender in Old Book

I like lavender color. And lavender oil as well. Autumn and winter are the great time for using oil burner, with lavender oil, for example :)

Also I like books. This year I have a goal to read 20 books, currently there are 15 books in my read list and I'm working on 16th :) not so much, but better than nothing you know :)

Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic

Karlove Vary is a beautiful city. I vesited in in October 2011, when I had a trip to Czech republic. I remember that there is great cosmetic and tasty wafels :)

Karlovy Vary or Carlsbad is a spa town situated in western Bohemia, Czech Republic, on the confluence of the rivers Ohře and Teplá, approximately 130 km west of Prague. It is named after King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV, who founded the city in 1370. It is historically famous for its hot springs (13 main springs, about 300 smaller springs, and the warm-water Teplá River). It is the most visited spa town in the Czech Republic.

A hedgehog

The words on the postcard say (in translation from Finnish): 'Small miracles to you day'. So for me to receive a beautiful postcard (especially butterfly) with beautiful stamp is a miracle :)

Morning tea

Barcelona, Catalunia, Spain

This card I received prior to my travelling to Barcelona. For me Barcelona for a couple af last years has been my city of a Dream. Now I visited this city and would like to visit it again and again. I saw amazing Sagrada Familia (2 top pictures), Guel park (in the middle), casa Batlo (in the bottom). It's so colourful city, where I felt really comfortable.

So this postcard is special for me as it was sent from my city of Wonders :)

As for stamp, it shows King Juan Carlos I, stamp was issued in 2002 in the series with 8 stamps:

Armadillo

Here is a quite unique postcard as it shows armadillo - animal that lives only in Texas and Mexico. Wow!

Armadillos are New World placental mammals with a leathery armour shell. Dasypodidae is the only surviving family in the order Cingulata, part of the superorder Xenarthra, along with the anteaters and sloths. The word armadillo means "little armoured one" in Spanish. 

Texas cowboys call the Armadillo "A Texas Turkey" and would share their meal with a stranger ony to tell him it was an Armadillo after the stranger would comment on the fine meal.

Vienna is a very beautiful city. I was there in autumn 2010, my husband visited the city this winter. There are so many gorgeous old and new buildings.

The Burgtheater, originally known as K.K. Theater an der Burg, then until 1918 as the K.K. Hofburgtheater, is the Austrian National Theatre in Vienna and one of the most important German language theatres in the world.  The Burgtheater was created in 1741 and has become known as "die Burg" by the Viennese population; its theatre company of more or less regular members has created a traditional style and speech typical of Burgtheater performances.

The card shows an Altaian woman in the national costume. It's quite interesting to see national dresses in different countries. This one looks gorgeous. I think that Altain people should proud of their costumes and history :)

In the garden by Leonid Afremov

Usually postcards that contain art works of Leonid Afremov are being sent by Belarusian postcrossers. However it is really wonderful to receive the first (and the second, etc..) postcard to the own collection. I really like paintings of Afremov and would like to paint a bit like him, but I know that it's impossible for me :)

Why do we so like this artist? Cause he was born and lived in Belarus! :)

Temple of Confucius

East of the Temple of Confucius, is the Kong Family Mansion. Kong is the family surname of Confucius and his descendants.

As time went on, Confucius became respected as a sage, and the temples to Confucius were built as a landmark for all of China. Among them, the Temple in Qufu, the hometown of Confucius, is the most famous and the largest.

Marilyn Monroe by Andy Warhol

Here is an interesting art postcard sent to me by Dasha from Russia. I think that everyone knows who is Marilyn Monroe, so I'll add to this post some info about Andy Warhol.

Andy Warhol was an American artist who was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art. His works explore the relationship between artistic expression, celebrity culture and advertisement that flourished by the 1960s. After a successful career as a commercial illustrator, Warhol became a renowned and sometimes controversial artist. The Andy Warhol Museum in his native city, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, holds an extensive permanent collection of art and archives. It is the largest museum in the United States dedicated to a single artist.
