When I was in Kiev. I saw this monument with my own eyes. Hmm.. maybe, it's a sign that I need to visit this city again :) will think about it tomorrow :)

Bohdan Zynoviy Mykhailovych Khmelnytsky was the Hetman of the Zaporozhian Host of the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland in the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth (now part of Ukraine). He led an uprising against the Commonwealth and its magnates (1648–1654) which resulted in the creation of a Cossack state. In 1654, he concluded the Treaty of Pereyaslav with the Tsardom of Russia.

Mount Rushmore, USA

The Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a sculpture carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore near Keystone, South Dakota, in the United States. Sculpted by Danish-American Gutzon Borglum and his son, Lincoln Borglum, Mount Rushmore features 18 m sculptures of the heads of four United States presidents: George Washington (1732–1799), Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826), Theodore Roosevelt (1858–1919), and Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865). The entire memorial covers 5.17 km2 and is 1,745 m above sea level.

South Dakota historian Doane Robinson is credited with conceiving the idea of carving the likenesses of famous people into the Black Hills region of South Dakota in order to promote tourism in the region. Robinson's initial idea was to sculpt the Needles; however, Gutzon Borglum rejected the Needles site because of the poor quality of the granite and strong opposition from Native American groups. They settled on the Mount Rushmore location, which also has the advantage of facing southeast for maximum sun exposure. Robinson wanted it to feature western heroes like Lewis and Clark, Red Cloud, and Buffalo Bill Cody, but Borglum decided the sculpture should have a more national focus and chose the four presidents whose likenesses would be carved into the mountain. After securing federal funding through the enthusiastic sponsorship of "Mount Rushmore's great political patron", U.S. Senator Peter Norbeck, construction on the memorial began in 1927, and the presidents' faces were completed between 1934 and 1939. Upon Gutzon Borglum's death in March 1941, his son Lincoln Borglum took over construction. Although the initial concept called for each president to be depicted from head to waist, lack of funding forced construction to end in late October 1941.

Mount Rushmore has become an iconic symbol of presidential greatness and has appeared in works of fiction, and has been discussed or depicted in other popular works. It attracts over two million people annually.

Pyatigorsk is a city in Stavropol Krai located on the Podkumok River, about 20 kilometers from the town of Mineralnye Vody where there is an international airport and about 45 kilometers from Kislovodsk. Since January 19, 2010, it has been the administrative center of the North Caucasian Federal District of Russia. Population: 142,511.

This card is a good panoramic view of Pyatigorsk. On the left side you see the Eagle monument, in the centre is “Goryachaya” (Hot) mountain.

The Statue of Liberty, New York, USA

This is most of the famous statues in the world - The Status of Liberty.

The Statue of Liberty is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in the middle of New York Harbor, in Manhattan, New York City. The statue, designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and dedicated on October 28, 1886, was a gift to the United States from the people of France. The statue is of a robed female figure representing Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom, who bears a torch and a tabula ansata (a tablet evoking the law) upon which is inscribed the date of the American Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776. A broken chain lies at her feet. The statue is an icon of freedom and of the United States: a welcoming signal to immigrants arriving from abroad.

Kritsovsky memorial, Russia

This card came to me from the best postcrosser Dmitry. He sent me the beautiful big card, sticked funny stamp and also added some booklets about Russian money (as I collect banknotes from different countries). Many-many thanks for all these efforts!

Kritsovsky memorial is  called by memorial of Grief and Glory. It is open on the place of the battle with the invaders. Here you can feel the immortal soldiers feats of the Great Patriotic War.

Stanley Park Totem, Canada

This great card was sent to me by Chinese girl Vicky from Canada. When I'm going to Canada I will know the places I should visit ;)

One of the province's most popular attractions is a group of eight totem poles at Brockton Point. Four totem poles were originally brought from Alert Bay and placed at Lumbermen’s Arch in 1924. Some had been carved back in the late 1880s. More totem poles were purchased in the 1920s and 1930s, this time originating from the Queen Charlotte Islands and Rivers Inlet. All of the totem poles were moved to Brockton Point in 1962 to allow the construction of an overhead road at Lumberman's Arch. Many of them have been replaced with replicas, with the originals now kept in museums for preservation. The most recent addition, erected in 2009, was carved by a member of the Squamish Nation whose mother was born in Stanley Park

Monument to the founders of Odessa

I like Odessa. I visited this city summer 2012. Sea, sun and relax were my friends :)

From Chisinau (hometown of my husband) to Odessa is 4 hours by train or bus! Although there are Moldavian and Ukrainian border (and even Transdniestrian border in case train).

This card shows the monument to Catherine the Great and her companions - José de Ribas, Franz P. de Vollan, Grigory Potemkin and Platon Zubov. The monument is located in Odessa on Catherine square. It is placed in 1900. In 1920 the monument was dismantled and and restored only in 2007.

Penang Island, Malaysia

Captain Francis Light founded Penang Island as a British settlement on the 11th August 1786. His monument stands in the grounds of the Penang Museum and Art Gallery

On 7 July 2008, George Town, the historic capital of Penang, was formally inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site alongside with Malacca. It is officially recognized as having a unique architectural and cultural townscape without parallel anywhere in East and Southeast Asia.

Monument to the composer G.V. Sviridov

Georgy Vasilyevich Sviridov (1915-1998) was a Soviet neoromantic composer.

This monument to the composer (btw, the first monument) was opened in Kursk, September 23, 2005. The following words are engraved on it "Sung Russia, where the God gave and told me to live, enjoy and suffer".
