The Savior-on-the-Blood Cathedral, St. Petersburg, Russia

Postcard IDRU-1172146
Country: Russia

The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood is one of the main sights of St. Petersburg, Russia. It is also variously called the Church on Spilt Blood and the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ, its official name.

This Church was built on the site where Emperor Alexander II was assassinated and was dedicated in his memory. It should not be confused with the Church on Blood in Honour of All Saints Resplendent in the Russian Land, located in the city of Yekaterinburg where the former Emperor Nicholas II (1868–1918) and several members of his family and household were executed following the Bolshevik Revolution.

Also this postcard contains 3 beautiful stamps from different series: Gifts of nature (2003), Kremlins (2009) and Decorative Art - Laze (2011):

This is a beautiful postcard from Kyiv, Ukraine. This card shows architectural ensemble of Mykhailivskyy gold-topped cathedral. It is one from the most interesting landmarks of Kyiv.

Unfortunately, ancient cathedral was not saved, so cathedral from the postcard was rebuilt and opened in 1999. It was originally built in the Middle Ages by Sviatopolk II Iziaslavych.

I saw this Cathedral when I visited Kyiv in 2008. It's a really nice place with unique atmosphere. Recommend to visit :)

Here are stamps from different series (Definitive Issue 2007 and 2009, Flora 2012):

São Paulo Cathedral

Postcard ID: BR-320890
Country: Brasil

Here is a beautiful cathedral that locates in Brazil. I googled some more photos - it's amazing inside and outdoor.

The São Paulo See Metropolitan Cathedral -"See" and "cathedra" mean "seat" and therefore the ecclesiastical authority of a bishop or archbishop - is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of São Paulo, Brazil. As of 2013 the Metropolitan Archbishop of the archdiocese was Cardinal Odilo Pedro Scherer. Its construction, in Neo-Gothic style, began in 1913 and ended four decades later. It was ready for its dedication on the 400th anniversary of the foundation of the then humble villa of São Paulo by Chief or Cacique Tibiriçá and the Jesuit priests Manuel da Nóbrega and José de Anchieta. Despite having a Renaissance-styled dome, the São Paulo Metropolitan Cathedral is considered by some to be the 4th largest neo-gothic cathedral in the world.

Kyiv. The St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery, 12th c.

Postcard ID: UA-729813
Country: Ukraine

St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery is a functioning monastery in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. The monastery is located on the right bank of the Dnieper River on the edge of a bluff northeast of the Saint Sophia Cathedral. The site is located in the historic administrative Uppertown and overlooks the city's historical commercial and merchant quarter, the Podil neighbourhood.

Originally built in the Middle Ages by Sviatopolk II Iziaslavych, the monastery comprises the Cathedral itself, the Refectory of St. John the Divine, built in 1713, the Economic Gates, constructed in 1760 and the monastery's bell tower, which was added circa 1716–1719. The exterior of the structure was rebuilt in the Ukrainian Baroque style in the 18th century while the interior remained in its original Byzantine style. The original cathedral was demolished by the Soviet authorities in the 1930s, but was reconstructed and opened in 1999 following Ukrainian independence in 1991. (с) Wikipedia
