Słupsk, Poland

Postcard IDPL-686556
Country: Poland

Słupsk is a city in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, in the northern part of Poland. Before 1 January 1999, it was the capital of the separate Słupsk Voivodeship. It is also a part of the historic region of Pomerania.

The city is located in the northwestern part of present-day Poland, near the Baltic Sea on the Słupia River. It is the administrative seat of Słupsk County, although it is not part of that county (the city has county status in its own right). It has a population of 98,757 and occupies 43.15 square kilometres, being one of the most densely populated cities in the country according to the Central Statistical Office. The neighbouring administrative districts (gminas) are Gmina Kobylnica and Gmina Słupsk.

Martenitsa

Postcard IDBG-44746
Country: Bulgaria

Wow, this is the first Bulgarian postcard in my blog. Big luck! :)
This postcard shows a spring symbol or, more familiar for me - Martsishor (in Romanian).

A Martenitsa is a small piece of adornment, made of white and red yarn and usually in the form of two dolls, a male and a female. Martenitsi are worn from Baba Marta Day (March 1) until the wearer first sees a stork, swallow, or budding tree (or until late March). The name of the holiday means "Grandma March" in Bulgarian and the holiday and the wearing of Martenitsi are a Bulgarian tradition related to welcoming the spring, which according to Bulgarian folklore begins in March.

The stamp is from series Wild roses issued in 2006:

Architectural ensemble of Mykhailivskyy gold-topped cathedral

Postcard IDUA-583299
Country: Ukraine

This is a beautiful postcard from Kyiv, Ukraine. This card shows architectural ensemble of Mykhailivskyy gold-topped cathedral. It is one from the most interesting landmarks of Kyiv.

Unfortunately, ancient cathedral was not saved, so cathedral from the postcard was rebuilt and opened in 1999. It was originally built in the Middle Ages by Sviatopolk II Iziaslavych.

I saw this Cathedral when I visited Kyiv in 2008. It's a really nice place with unique atmosphere. Recommend to visit :)

Here are stamps from different series (Definitive Issue 2007 and 2009, Flora 2012):

The 24 solar time calendar

Postcard IDCN-880494
Country: China

This is the card from China which was traveling to me in 52 days. It shows the traditional culture of China - the 24 solar time that people used to remind themselves the time to cultivate. Just like calendar in western country.

Neuschwanstein Castle

Postcard IDDE-2099823
Country: Germany

Now I know what is absolutely happiness for postcrosser - finding an envelope in mailbox. No, no, not unusual envelope. A chubby envelope. When you open it, you’ll find 5 (five!!!) postcards there. Really happiness.

The first card introduce Bochum City where live the sender. Bochum is located in the deep west of Germany, 70 km to the Netherlands border. It’s a former coal mining area, now all mines are closed. Only a mining museum they have. But this museum is the biggest in the world! Look at the center of postcard.

On the second card you see the biggest National park in Germany with wild living wolves, lynx and bears.

The third card is about The University where study 38 000 students.

The forth card shows Hohenzollern Castle - the family seat of Prussian kings and the German emperors. Near the small town Hechinger, south of Stuttgart

And one more amazing castle is present on the last card. It’s the Cinderella Castle in Bavaria, the favourite castle of king Ludwig II of Bavaria.

This post was copied from my another blog that I had in 2013 :)
