During the closing Mass of the 2013 World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro, Pope Francis announced that Kraków would host the next World Youth Day in 2016.

Sharivka Park, Bohoduhiv district

Here is the information from the back side of the card:

The monument of park-and-garden arts of the national significance. The park obtained its Western European features still in the early 19th century, when it was reconstructed and decorated with ponds and terraces with wide stairs. The central site of the park is occupied by the palace erected on high hill.

Georgy Vasilyevich Sviridov (1915-1998) was a Soviet neoromantic composer.

This monument to the composer (btw, the first monument) was opened in Kursk, September 23, 2005. The following words are engraved on it "Sung Russia, where the God gave and told me to live, enjoy and suffer".

Chapel of the Three Saints

Chapel of the Three Saints at the beginning served as a temple with 1578 on 1591, has not yet been built Church of the Assumption . Then the church into a chapel. The building was designed by architect Andrew Podlesnaya to order the same Constantine Kornyakta .

Columns inside the no - instead, a complicated system of arches and sails. The top of the pilasters is decorated with heads of angels. The portal is decorated with reliefs of female heads of profile . The door itself is forged, decorated with roses.

After the fire, the chapel was rebuilt 1671r by means of Alexei Balaban . Unfortunately iconostasis which was made by Alexander Lyanitskim , to this day not lived . In 1846, 1847rr .chapel has been restored , but then was broken wall and connected it to the church.

The interior of the chapel has a rich decoration: painting and stucco work , a perfect combination of folk traditions and Renaissance style .The white walls emphasize the contrast with stucco , which is simulating a mosaic background, which in turn covers the inner surface of the dome.

The Peter and Paul Fortress is the original citadel of St. Petersburg, Russia, founded by Peter the Great in 1703 and built to Domenico Trezzini's designs from 1706-1740.

It is the central and most important part of the State Museum of Saint Petersburg History. The museum has gradually become virtually the sole owner of the fortress building except the building of Saint Petersburg Mint. (c) Wikipedia

I was in Saint Petersburg in spring of 2012. Of course, I visited this important place :)

Ekaterina Dudnik - Friends

This is one from the most wonderful cards which I have received!

It's painted by Ukrainian artist Ekaterina Dudnik. She was born in 1982 in Izmail city. Since childhood Katya would like to be an actress, archaeologist or soldier. The love to art was instilled to her from an early age, which she was passed in the studio of her father, and was a decisive factor in choosing a profession.

 The initial art education was received at the State Art School named T.G. Shevchenko, and higher education - at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture - the Faculty of Fine Arts.  Father was the first teacher, and mother inspired. Ekaterina has participated in many exhibitions and it's brought the young artist self-confidence, recognition and impetus to the creation of new, interesting work.

And my special thanks to the sender of this card for her wish me to travel on air balloon.
