In 1974, an ex-Army officer in Fayetteville who loved books and reading realized he couldn’t afford to establish a library, so he did the second-best thing—he started a used bookstore! From modest beginnings that included Canada Dry Ginger Ale crates, buildings originally designed to function as chicken coops, and a building that the founder put together himself, Edward McKay Used Books & More has grown to four stores across North Carolina.
